QuikTrip (QT), the popular regional travel center with a cult-like following, has opened in Pell City, Alabama.

The new “road trip pit stop”, which opened this month, is Alabama’s 4th QT location.

It is not hard to find. The new spot is located right off  Exit 156 at 685 Mineral Springs Rd, Pell City, AL 35125, about 30 miles from downtown Birmingham.

Public-Private Partnership

In a statement released to Bham Now by Pell City City Manager Brian Muenger, the city is thrilled about the new QT— and it’s not solely because of the inexpensive gas and wide selection of travel “to go” options.

According to Muenger, thanks to a public-private partnership between QT, the city and  county—local residents can expect new developments to occur in that area in the coming years.

“The City and QuikTrip have been working towards this opening since mid-2020.  At that time, no sewer service was available at the Exit 156 interchange, which was a necessity for the development to occur.  The City, with assistance from the County Commission and QuikTrip, partnered to construct a sewer lift station to serve this interchange.  In addition to serving QuikTrip, this infrastructure expansion allows the City to serve more than 200 acres of undeveloped land in the area, which will greatly enhance the likelihood of future development in the area.

QuikTrip has been a great partner throughout the development process, and the City is excited to welcome them to our community.  More than 700,000 vehicles travel I-20 monthly, so the addition of a new travel center at this exit is certain to have a significant economic impact for our area.”
