BOOGIE DOWN: Magic City Disco to perform at 2024 London’s New Year’s Day Parade
New Year’s Day 2024 just got a lot more groovy—GLOBALLY. Magic City Disco, the fun, joyful, quirky, sparkling, big wigged performance group from Birmingham will be participating at the 2024 London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

Celebrate the New Year with Magic City Disco
They are everywhere. If you have been to a parade or special event in and around Birmingham over the past 7 years, you’ve seen Magic City Disco dance “bust a move.”
Since they premiered at their first parade—the 2017 Do Dah Day Parade—the merry band of dancers dressed in their finest polyester have performed in 163 events covering 4 states –
Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and Georgia.
Locally, you’ve likely cheered them on at Mutt Strutt, Homewood Christmas parade, Central Alabama Pride parade and St. Patrick’s Day parade at Five Points South.

According to Leisha Harris with Magic City Disco, the group has 63 active members in Birmingham.
“We’re very proud of what we’ve built here. We’ve been able to grow it and it brings out happy feelings when people see us.”
She added: “People from all walks of life are in the group. We have doctors, teachers, nurses and real estate people. You put on a wig and have a good time.”

London Calling
This is Magic City Disco’s first international event. They will be performing with their sister city Krewe, the Disco Amigos New Orleans.

The 2024 parade, which takes place in the West End of London, promises to be one of the biggest and best in the parade’s five decade long history.
Magic City Disco intends to send 38 Birmingham members to London.
Other groups going to London from Alabama include Huntsville High School Band and Talladega College Band.
