NEW Dogtopia Parkside opening in downtown Birmingham on October 2nd

Dogtopia—a doggy daycare with boarding, grooming and spa options for your four-legged friend—is opening a new Birmingham location in Parkside in October! We spoke with owners Carlton and Henson Millsap to learn more.

Last year, Birmingham residents Carlton and Henson Millsap opened the first Dogtopia in Alabama at 1722 27th Ct S in downtown Homewood. The two brothers quit their day jobs and focused their efforts on growing Dogtopia’s presence in Homewood.

Now, they’ve set their eyes on a new location—Parkside.

“Parkside is one of the most quickly-developing areas in Birmingham, with tons of new apartment buildings and residents involved with UAB. We’re a great solution for apartment dwellers who want to have a dog, but don’t have a yard or don’t feel comfortable leaving their dog cooped up in the apartment all day.”

The Millsaps worked with William Ledbetter of EGS Commercial Real Estate to identify the location, which is owned by Alabama Power and represented by Lyndsy Yim of SRS Real Estate Partners. Dogtopia Parkside will be just a few blocks away from Regions Field, Railroad Park, Good People Brewing Co., Monday Night Social Club and several new apartment communities.

Customers of Dogtopia Homewood will feel right at home at Dogtopia Parkside, as the new location will offer all the same services and amenities as Dogtopia Homewood. However, the new Parkside location will also include a 1,000-square-foot outdoor play space!

“Dogtopia is not a kennel, and when you walk into one of our facilities it is immediately evident what we mean by that. Our core focus is open-play doggy daycare‚ and we have multiple play rooms where dogs can run around playing from the time we open until the time we close—aside from a two-hour nap to ensure they’re well-rested. We have cameras in each room that pet parents can access via an app on their phone, so they’re never left wondering what their dog is doing during the day.”

In addition to doggy daycare, Dogtopia Parkside will offer boarding, spa and grooming services.
