Sneak peek at NEW Canopy at Oak Mountain; phase one opening in August
Reading time: 4 minutes
Earlier this month, the City of Pelham shared an update on The Canopy at Oak Mountain, an upcoming mixed-use development on Amphitheater Road in Pelham. The development—which will open in phases—will give Pelham residents and visitors a new place to live, dine and shop as soon as August!
Bham Now took a tour of the development to learn more.
About Canopy at Oak Mountain
Announced back in 2019, Canopy at Oak Mountain is a major mixed-use development opening soon in Pelham. Made possible through a partnership between Genrev Properties and WeldenField, The Canopy will feature 25,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space as well as a 234-unit apartment community—Canopy Park Apartments.
“You have concerts at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, there’s the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena where the Birmingham Bulls play, and the new trails connect outdoor enthusiasts to Oak Mountain State Park, which is minutes away. We saw a lack of pre-event and post-event gathering opportunities in this corridor. People with these interests just want to wind down together and talk about the adventure. Whether it is a gathering before or after the concert or hockey match, or you just want to cap off a day at the park, it’s all right here.”
John Brenner, President and Development Partner of Genrev Properties, in a statement to the City of Pelham
Phase One to open in August
According to the City of Pelham, the first phase of apartment buildings at Canopy at Oak Mountain will be open for move-in in August. As of July 1, the pool is ready and the apartment clubhouse is equipped and furnished.
Once complete, the Canopy Park Apartments will be available in one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans. Residents will have access to nearby retail and dining options at The Shops at Canopy, two of those are set to open soon—Taco Mac and Cahaba Cycles.
Taco Mac and Cahaba Cycles opening soon
Taco Mac—an Atlanta-based chain of sports bars with a selection of smash burgers, tacos, quesadillas, crisp salads, wraps and legendary Buffalo chicken wings—will open its doors at The Canopy later this summer.
“While Georgia has been our home for the last 40+ years, our long-term goal is to bring our fresh, never frozen wings and wide selection of craft beer to more communities throughout the southeast. This market fits our brand well with its strong sports presence, passionate fans, and thriving food scene. Specifically, the first-class development of The Canopy allows us to serve several communities. With several investors in the market and the proximity to Oak Mountain State Park, it makes the perfect location to expand our reach.”
Kelsey Layer Bradford, Director of Marketing for Taco Mac in a statement to the City of Pelham
In addition to food, Taco Mac offers a large beer selection—including 60 beers on tap!
According to the City of Pelham, Taco Mac plans to open later this summer.
In addition to Taco Mac, Cahaba Cycles will be relocating their Pelham location from 2271 Pelham Parkway to The Canopy at Oak Mountain. According to Cahaba Cycles’ owner and President Paris Malki, the upcoming Canopy location will be a place where, “people can park, have lunch, get what they need for the ride, and then leave for the park without getting in the car.”
The 4,5000-square-foot Canopy location will give Cahaba Cycles the opportunity to better display their products and services with modern fixtures and a more ideal floorpan. In addition, the store will have new hours and increase their bike rental business with a new fleet of e-bikes.
Out back, Cahaba Cycles’ outdoor patio will feature roll-up garage doors, a fire pit and large TVs—perfect for watching a game and enjoying refreshments from Taco Mac.
