Monday Night Brewing in Birmingham wins five awards in national competition

Attention beer lovers! A few months ago, Monday Night Brewing Co. entered eight beers into the U.S. Beer Open Championship, one of the top three rated beer competitions in the USA. Five of Monday Night’s beers won awards. Keep reading to find out more.
The national winners
Monday Night Social Club opened in Birmingham back in late 2020. The space is an experimental brewpub with onsite brewing. You can experience fun beers from fruited sours and hop-forward styles in addition to collaborative beers.
The winners who brought home the hardware were:
- Shadow King – Barrel Aged Strong Stout/Porter Extreme
- 7 Deadly Stouts – Barrel Aged Strong Stout/Porter Specialty
- Tears of My Enemies – Coffee Beer
- Tie XI – Blended Barrel Aged Beer
- Juice Raptor – Fruit IPA
“The recognition is great for Monday Night Brewing because it increases our exposure to a wider audience. We are only distributed in four states currently. To win something this big at a full U.S. competition against breweries that are nationwide is a big deal for us.”
“Shadow King won gold in the barrel-aged strong stout category. It is a doubled aged imperial stout which means we aged it in two separate barrels over a number of years. We do a lot of big barrel aged stout here and it is something the beer community really looks forward to. We have a huge barrel-aged program and it is something we are very proud of after putting lots of time and work in that program. In fact three of the five medals we won were for beer that were barrel-aged.”
