July is just around the corner and if you’re like me, you love any reason to celebrate. Good news—it’s the perfect time to celebrate anything and everything. July is the official month for many of our favorite things in life—blueberries, hotdogs, ice cream, you name it. Keep scrolling for our recs on how to celebrate everything this month around the Greater Birmingham Area.

That’s right—July is the national month to eat all the blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and watermelon you can. We know that’s a lot, but we also know of some pretty cool places to shop for these fruits and more. The Birmingham farmer’s market scene is top-notch. Here are some to visit:

National Hotdog Month

Who doesn’t love a good hotdog on the Fourth of July? You can  enjoy a summertime fave all month long at Birmingham-area hotdog joints like:

National Grilling Month

Fire up the grill and spend some time outside—that’s what summer’s all about, right? It should come as no surprise that July is National Grilling Month. We’ve got you covered with some ideas of how to celebrate:

1. Host a summer BBQ

Food and company make for the best times. Invite your family and friends to enjoy National Grilling Month.

2. Picnic in the park

Take your food and grilling gear to the nearest park and enjoy some time in the sunshine or under the stars.

3. Try unique grilled food

Have you ever tried grilled fruit? FUN TIP: Gather the many fruits July is famous for and put them on the grill for a scrumptious feast.

My personal favorite thing to celebrate: ice cream. It’s impossible to name all the amazing creameries around Alabama, let alone Birmingham. Here are a few (out of many) of the best ice cream shops in town:

If you’re traveling to Huntsville anytime soon, check out these must-try ice cream shops.

National Parks and Rec Month

We may be biased, but we think Alabama is the top spot for fun and natural beauty. Spend National Parks and Rec month at these Alabama state parks. While you’re at it, add some local parks around The Magic City to your list.

Birmingham is never short of fun things to do. How are you spending your July? Let us know on Facebook + Instagram!
