The 2024 Field of Dreams Game between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals will be playing at Historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham,  according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Rickwood Field, America’s oldest professional ballpark, was opened in 1910.

The field was home to the Birmingham Barons and  Birmingham Black Barons. Baseball’s greatest living player, Willie Mays—who recently celebrated his 92 birthday—played for the Black Barons between 1948-50. He went on to play most of his career with the New York Giants, which became the San Francisco Giants.

It is likely the players will play the game in throwback uniforms.

The last two Field of Dreams games were played in Dyersville, Iowa, on the same site the movie was filmed.

Sports Illustrated and the Bleacher Report reported on the story from the Chronicle.
