Spend your summer at these 5 outdoor movie spots
Summer is in full swing and there’s no place we’d rather spend it than in the Greater Birmingham area. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up the best places to enjoy an outdoor movie and make sure you have a fun, family-friendly time outdoors in our favorite city.
1. Free Friday Flicks
The classic Free Friday Flicks moved from Hoover to Railroad Park and this year’s lineup is perfect. Join the rest of Birmingham every Friday in June for a free movie—thanks to Regions Bank and Medical Properties Trust.
Seating opens at 6:30PM and the movies start at dusk. Be sure to come early to grab food and drinks from the food trucks next to the pavilion.

2. Grand River Drive-In
Who doesn’t love a night at the drive-in? Grand River is one of the coolest spots in Leeds and we can’t think of a better way to spend our summer than enjoying a double-feature showing with food from the Snack Shack with our best friends.

3. Alabaster Movie Nights
In June and July, you can catch a fun, lighthearted movie with family and friends. Bring chairs and a blanket and enjoy some childhood classics starting around 8:30PM. A full list of activities will be announced at a later date—you can see these updates on the City of Alabaster’s website.

Bonus: The Alabaster Teen Council will also be presenting movies throughout the summer. Join them tomorrow, June 6 for Top Gun: Maverick screening starting at dusk.
4. Movies in Avondale Park
Avondale Park is known for its community-wide events, and it just gets better in the summertime. Join the fun this July. The dates are set, and the movies are coming soon! Stay in the loop on all the details here.

5. Movie on the Mall
head to The Mall in Trussville to enjoy fellowship, games, food and movies. For one Friday in June and July they’re hosting “Movie on the Mall” for some outdoor movie fun. Games and activities will be available for all ages starting at 5:30PM, and the movie starts at dusk.
