15 ways to celebrate Pride Month around Birmingham this June

Ready. Set. Pride! June marks the month-long celebration of Pride Month and we’ve gathered some of the best events happening around The Magic City. Read on for exciting parades, bougie cocktail parties, fun foodie events and more.

1. 2023 Pride Kick-off & Awards Reception

• What: Kick off Pride month by celebrating Central Alabama Pride’s 45th anniversary. There will be food, drinks + fun. More info.

2. Central Alabama Pride Reunion

• What: Get ready for a reunion like no other during this special event. This year’s Central Alabama Pride reunion titleholders from across the state come together for an amazing show to remind you just why they won their prestigious titles. More info.

3. Community Closet Block Party

• What: AIDS Alabama and Central Alabama Pride join together for a Community Closet Block Party this June. The event allows the community to browse and take home donated clothing items. There will also be popcorn, drinks + music. More info.

4. Pride Picnic

• What: Join Covenant Community Church to celebrate 42 years of loving the Birmingham community. This rain-or-shine picnic features food, music and entertainment. More info.

5. Pride Patio Cocktail party

What: Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 3 for a Pride Patio Cocktail Party hosted by Babes Who Brunch Birmingham. During this exciting gathering, expect fantastic drag, Juniper’s tasty cocktails, Lady Bird tacos, sick beats and more. Proceeds benefit the Magic City Acceptance Center. More info.

6. Funky Food Truck Festival benefiting AIDS Alabama

• What: Get down and get funky at this awesome annual event. Benefiting AIDS Alabama, the Funky Food Truck Festival offers an afternoon of great eats from local food trucks, brews from Cahaba Brewing, vendors and pop-up shops. More info.

7. Bham Big Gay History Bus

• What: For the ultimate tour experience, hop aboard the Bham Big Gay History Bus this June. Choose from four separate tours exploring 24 historic locations around The Magic City, each beginning and ending at Cahaba Brewing Company and hosted by an Invisible Histories Project member. More info.

8. Pride Skate Night

9. Pride Cosmic Bowling

10. LOUD & PROUD: The Official Pride Parade After Party

• What: Get loud and proud during the official Pride Parade Afterparty at Saturn. You’ll see RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Jessica Wild and Stacy Layne Matthews along with Genesis, Queen Essence Hall, Kharris + Alexis Gabrielle Sherrington. More info.

11. Central Alabama Pride Parade

What: Nothing beats the Central Alabama Pride Parade. Attend the family-friendly festivities along the parade route on 7th Avenue South. More info.

12. Pride Fest

• What: Get festive, Bham—Pride Fest is a must-attend this June. Happening at Linn Park, there will be live performances, artisan vendors, food trucks, a kids’ area, a health fair + lots more. More info.

13. That’s So Gay: Using Southern LGBTQ History to Fight for Our Rights

• What: Join Discourse BHAM for another special pop-up lecture series at Monday Night Brewing. This event will uncover Southern LGBTQIA+ events, places and people you may not know about and discuss why it’s important that we save, and share, these histories. More info.

14. Workshop 2: Homo-Coming Collective Zine Making Event

• What: Release your creativity during this zine-making event. You’ll have the chance to participate in zine tutorials, engage in breakout sessions led by zine experts + enthusiasts and contribute to the creation of a collective zine that will be shared by all participants. More info.

15. The Kids Are Alright
