1. The tastiest taco

The Skirt Steak Taco is built on a handmade flour tortilla, topped with grilled skirt steak, onions, corn, serrano pepper, roasted mushrooms and some tasty, melty cheese.

After watching them make this, I couldn’t wait to dig in. I’m here to tell you, it’s SOOOOO good.

Side note: if you accidentally eat your whole pepper spear *in one mouthful* like I did, you’ll be very glad to have one of their drink specials nearby to cool the flames. 🔥

2. Tequila Mockingbird

Nick Halfacre, Little Donkey’s Operating Partner, who got his start as a bartender many years ago, whipped up both of the Cinco de Mayo drink specials for us to try.

He said the Tequila Mockingbird was one of the OG cocktails at Little Donkey when they opened back in 2012. Over the past 11 years, it’s been on and off the menu as a special. After trying it, I can see why this one’s a keeper. Pineapple lovers, you must try this refreshing drink, made with the following ingredients:

  • Agave simple syrup
  • Pineapple
  • Serrano
  • Toasted black cardamom seeds
  • Tequila

Remember that serrano I mentioned? This was the perfect antidote.

3. Watermelon Margarita

If you put summer in a glass and garnished it with mint, that’s what this one tastes like. Watermelon fans, this one’s for you. Here’s what they put in it:

  • El Jimador Blanco Tequila
  • Lime
  • Mint
  • Pureed and strained watermelon juice
  • A touch of agave simple syrup

You’ll still be able to enjoy the regular menu items, including the Mexican-style street corn.

Make plans now to head to Little Donkey for Cinco de Mayo—you can also order for pickup or delivery. You’ll be glad you did!
