Coffee with a view

Bre and Brenden Mertz have lived at Stockton Crest for about eight months now and couldn’t be happier. Bre was off work for spring break this week, so she was able to take us under her wing and give us the rundown of what Stockton is all about.

In addition to being an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Samford, Bre is a photographer AND does freelance marketing consulting. Needless to say, she needs a good spot to get work done when she’s at home. When the weather’s nice, the back porch and her desk bike make for the perfect setup.

The Mertz’s house has one of the best views in the neighborhood. I mean, morning coffee with that view? I would never leave the back porch.

Location goals

Stockton Crest is only minutes away from Trussville’s entertainment district. What people love most about Trussville is that it’s a growing town with bigger-city conveniences, but still has that small-town hospitality.

“Stockton Crest stood out to us for several reasons. We loved that it was located in Trussville because we wanted to live in a smaller town that is up-and-coming, but still has easy access to everything that Birmingham has to offer.”

I’ve been able to check out the amenities at Stockton before, so I was excited to see them in action. We walked their mini Australian Shepard, Kip, through the neighborhood, checked out the gym and ended with a game of pickleball.

“The amenities that Stockton offers are a huge perk—miles of sidewalks, multiple pools, a community gym, pickle ball and basketball courts, cute reservable venue spaces, a golf simulator, a wiffle ball field, playgrounds, a community firepit and garden and green fields.”

Personalize your home

One of my favorite things about The Mertz’s home was how reflective it was of their personalities. Building at Stockton Crest allows you to create the home of your dreams, down to the details. That’s what sealed the deal for them.

“It only took one visit to Stockton Crest to fall in love with it. The treetop views were incredible and then when we found out we could personalize all of the finishes we were sold.”

Here’s a rundown of how that works:

After the contract paperwork is signed, Stockton homeowners are able to meet with designers and start creating their perfect home, personalizing all the details—from choosing flooring options to selecting fixtures and finishes. After an official design appointment, homeowners turn in their paperwork and begin to see their new home take shape in a few short weeks.

Even on our quick walk around the neighborhood, we ran into a few of the nicest neighbors. That is one of the biggest things the Mertzes have enjoyed throughout their first year living at Stockton.

“Though we have only lived here for a short time, our neighbors have become friends that we never thought we would find so close to home. It has been such a blessing to be surrounded by such a great community and we are so grateful to call Stockton Crest home.”
