A proposed development in West Homewood
During a community meeting last night, Tom Walker— President of Village Creek Development—shared plans for a proposed mixed-use community development in West Homewood at the current Econo Lodge site (195 Oxmoor Rd, Birmingham, AL 35209). Village Creek Development is working with local architecture firm Poole & Company Architects to design the West Homewood redevelopment.
The proposed development would include:
- A three-story mixed-use building along Oxmoor Road, with 12,500 square-feet of retail space.
- 18 2-bed/2-bath lofts
- 48 3-bed/2.5-bath rental townhomes
- 3 2-bed/2.5-bath rental townhomes
- An outdoor hangout for outdoor dining.
- Improved sidewalk and landscape area along Oxmoor Road, with on-street parking.
- Common green space between units.
Village Creek Development is currently accepting community feedback and adjusting plans based on the neighborhood engagement. The best way for residents to share their input is to email Tom Walker at firstname.lastname@example.org. Following the input, Village Creek Development will be presenting a development plan in the coming months to the planning commission and city council.
“I appreciate the efforts the developers have made to reach out to the West Homewood community yo hear their questions and feedback. We are excited about a potential development that will enhance what we have built over the last decade.”Carlos Alemán, Homewood City Councilor, Ward 2 — Place 1
