1. K & J’s Elegant Pastries

 If you have a sweet tooth, K&J’s Elegant Pastries’ new location in Hoover is a must-visit. From cupcakes (my personal fav is the strawberry!) to shakes and cakes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. This is the owner, Kristal Bryant’s second location with the first being in Uptown. Hoover dwellers make sure to drop in, today.

2. Sunshine Creamery

A new ice cream parlor is coming to Rocky Ridge in Vestavia. Co-owner Jarred Ray told Vestiva Voice the menu will feature shakes, sundaes, monthly specials and more. The shop plans to open in the first quarter of 2023.

3. Blue Sushi Sake Grill

Meet Blue Sushi Sake, the newest restaurant to open its doors at The Summit. This hip, Earth-conscious, sushi shop promises every item comes from sustainable practices and responsible sourcing to protect the ecosystem. On the menu, you’ll find gluten-free and vegan-friendly options.

4. Teenie’s Take-Home Market

Teenie’s Take-Home Market is Mountain Brook’s newest female-owned (not to mention cutest) addition. The store offers made-from-scratch take-and-make items like lasagna, Greek chicken and rice and even the Alabama-famous breakup cookieVisit the website to discover an ever-changing menu and cooking instructions. 

5. Compassionate Crossings

Compassionate Crossing is an in-home pet euthanasia service company that strives to make the painful times of a pet’s death more bearable. This Birmingham business was started by Lindsay Floyd, an Auburn alum and full-time veterinarian. The business runs on an “after hours” model to ensure that pet owners won’t have to miss work and can be home with their pet. The company is a humane practice and accommodates same-day appointments as well as aftercare services.
