The popular eatery, Homewood Gourmet, is relocating to a larger and more accessible location within the city of  Homewood by spring of 2023.

Established by Franklin Biggs in 1998, Homewood Gourmet was purchased by Chris and Laura Zapalowski 12 years ago in 2010.

The Move

The restaurant is moving from its present Merchant’s Walk,  28th Ave South site to 2705 18th Place South, which is behind Little Donkey and Rodney Scott’s BBQ. At approximately 1500 square feet, Homewood Gourmet’s new location will be larger and closer to some great walkable shopping.

“We are so excited about our new location,” said Chris Zapalowski, Owner of Homewood Gourmet. “Our business has grown and with this larger restaurant space we will be able to provide better service and convenience for our customers. We are committed to the Homewood community and supporting other local businesses.”

A Birmingham original, Homewood Gourmet will continue to feature its long-time classics,  including:

  • Original Baby Blue Salad and their restaurant’s famous spiced pecans
  • Fried Gulf Shrimp Poboys
  • House-made Pimento Cheese
  • Dinner Entrees To-Go that are made fresh daily.

There will be an expanded frozen food section as well as grab and go section, making to-go orders more convenient than ever before. Additionally, there will be more parking available for Homewood Gourmet customers.

“To us, Homewood Gourmet is more than just a restaurant, it is a community staple,” said Laura Zapalowski, Owner of Homewood Gourmet. “Our goal is to offer the community a place to enjoy high-quality food in an inviting, fast-casual atmosphere.”
