Just in time for its 25th anniversary, the AMC Summit 16 is about to get a major facelift.
Earlier this week, The Bama Buzz, Bham Now’s sister publication, reported in its weekly construction update, plans to renovate the popular multiplex at The Summit.
According to Southern Exposure Information, a service that provides The Bama Buzz a list of all the new million-dollar-plus construction permits approved in Alabama over the past week, the renovations will cost $5,157,615.
A timeline for the work has yet to be released.
What’s Happening at The Summit 16
Owned by Bayer Development, the AMC Summit 16 was one of the first multiplex theaters in Birmingham to offer 100% stadium seating. The venue opened on November 14, 1997.
According to Petrie Construction, the contractor for the renovation project, the AMC Summit 16 project improvements will include:
- Reseat and refresh of the 16-auditorium theater
- Updates to the concession area and box office
- Improvements to the floors
The Summit is on a Roll
The renovations to the cinemas is not the only exciting news at The Summit. This year alone Birmingham’s premier retail destination location has announced plans to open several new shopping concepts:
Add places like the Apple Store, REI and Trader Joe’s, just to name a few — The Summit is definitely your go to place. And now, the AMC Summit will be upgraded.
That’s good news Birmingham!
