Birmingham, get ready for this year’s tax-free weekend
Ready to forgo Alabama’s 4% sales tax? Get ready to shop until you drop this tax-free weekend from Friday, July 15 at 12:01AM until midnight on Sunday, July 17. We’re lucky that Birmingham is a participating county for this 17th annual weekend of deals.
What you can buy tax-free
We know you can’t miss a deal like this, so be ready to fill backpacks after this weekend with tax-free items, including:
- Books less than $30 per book
- School supplies less than $50 per item
- Clothing priced at $100 or less per item
- Computers of single purchase with a sales price of $750 or less
- Diapers
You can find these tax-free deals at all stores in the Greater Birmingham Area are places. Be sure to visit The Outlet Shops of Grand River for an easy, one-stop shopping experience.
Don’t want to leave the comfort of your own home? Don’t worry, online shopping is still an option to get these items with the same savings. The sales tax will be waived when you purchase an item online during this tax-free weekend.
What isn’t tax-exempt?
While a lot of school staples are tax-exempt, not everything is included in this weekend of savings. Items that aren’t tax-exempt include:
- Clothing accessories
- Protective equipment, including masks, gloves and safety glasses
- Sport and recreational equipment
