From remote work to unlimited PTO, it’s no question that the pandemic has taken traditional ideas of the workplace and turned them on their head. One that’s been making waves is the four-day workweek. Was Birmingham’s LinkedIn audience in favor of a permanent three-day weekend? Read on to find out.
What does Birmingham have to say?
Four-day workweeks, among other major workplace changes, have caused quite the stir lately. Some believe that these shifts positively impact employees’ work-life balance and productivity, and others feel that we shouldn’t stray away from tradition.
Bill Smith, the founder and CEO of Landing and Shipt, made it known he wants his workers (and other Birmingham companies) to head back to the office full-time. It raises the question on what truly benefits employees, and employers, the most.
We polled our followers on LinkedIn about the shortened workweek debate and received 652 responses—obviously, it’s a buzzy topic.
An overwhelming majority was in favor of the four-day workweek with 90% of the audience (589 votes) saying “Yes, please” to a three-day weekend.
5% of the audience (35 votes) are big fans of what we’ve got going now with a five-day workflow. 4% of responders (26 votes) said they’ve already got a four-day workweek—not gonna lie, I’m a little jealous.

Looking to experience a four-day workweek in The Magic City? As of right now, the concept is still up in the air for many Birmingham-based companies.
