Are you due to visit Mobile? In Birmingham, we’re an easy car ride away from a city filled with live music, gorgeous beaches and delicious food. Read on for some of the most exciting things happening in Mobile this spring.
3 reasons you should visit Mobile:
1. Celebrate Mobile culture at 2nd weekend
As the name suggests, every 2nd of the month is a party in Mobile. Plan your visit around these festive weekends to experience Mobile’s best live entertainment, artisan goods and, of course, plenty of unique local food.
The festivities run now through the end of the year, with different offerings and performers each month. Personally, I’m thinking a stop at one of Mobile’s many delicious restaurants followed by shopping through local goods and jamming to live music sounds pretty perfect!
2. Visit Mobile for live music all season long—experience “Saturdays at the Coop”
Those live performances I mentioned? You can expect something from nearly every genre—I’m talking rock, country, reggae, 80s and much more. The concert series is known affectionately as “Saturdays at the Coop” and takes place at Cooper Riverside Park.
Check out the full schedule of Saturday performances:
- May 14: Brandon Blackburn (country)
- June 11: Everyday People (reggae)
- July 9: Andy Roo & The Andyrooniverse (Kids Day Event)
- August 13: Disco Kiss (rock cover band)
- September 10: The Gator Boys (not your grandpa’s bluegrass)
- October 15: Jenna McClelland (rock)
- November 12: Hollywood Vagabonds (80’s hairband)
- December 10: Stormfolk (folk Christmas)
Remember, these concerts are completely free to attend and run 7-10PM (with the exception of the kids event on July 9, happening from 4-7PM).
3. Support local at ArtWalk
As if food, live music and the ocean breeze weren’t enough of a reason to visit Mobile, their special 2nd weekend celebration also hosts a unique Friday night event known as Loda Art WaLK. Every second weekend of the month on Friday nights from 6-9PM, you can peruse artisan goods from some of Mobile’s most talented folks.
The specialty art showcase has something for everyone, including contemporary and traditional art, ranging from crafts to furnishings and more. Immerse yourself in Mobile culture and support local as you stroll Art WaLK!
