We’re thrilled to welcome Downtown Birmingham’s very first medical-grade skincare and massage services provider. How amazing does a deep tissue massage after a long day of meetings sound?

You’ll find the new luxury spa across from the Elyton Hotel in the historic Woodward Building on the corner of 1st Ave and 20th St. N (see map below).

Once inside, you’ll feel as if you’re being transported straight to an Italian villa. The building’s overall architecture—conceptualized by Richard Carnaggio of Birmingham’s CCR Architecture—has heavy Italian influences, while the interior was carefully designed by Anna Bautista of CCR Architecture, as well as Bo Duke and Kristin Marcus of Office Environments.

Total on 1st is a new chapter for a local favorite

Although Total on 1st will be a new addition to the local skincare scene, their parent company, Total Skin & Beauty Dermatology Center, has served the Birmingham community for 45 years!

And you can bet that Total on 1st will have the full support of Total Skin & Beauty’s 100+ employees, including board-certified dermatologists, MOHS surgeons, physician assistants and nurse practitioners across five metropolitan Birmingham locations.

When will it open?

If you’re anything like me, you’re already sold. Dermaplaning, massages, lash tints and a full retail skin center under one roof? I’m ready to make my appointment at Total on 1st now!

Good news is, we won’t have to wait much longer to have this incredible resource fully available to us Downtown.

Here’s the timeline:

• May 2—June 6: Happening now, you have access to select products and procedures. Each week, the offerings will expand as part of the spa’s ramp-up. You can book individual appointments or small groups. 
• Starting June 6: Full spa is open, just in time to kick-off summer! Stock up on sunscreen at the retail center.
• Looking ahead: Total on 1st will occupy three additional floors in the Woodward Building, and they are already planning for the future. Once all build-outs are complete (aiming for 2023), they plan to integrate all of the Southside dermatological operations.
