Vinyl lovers—you already know what’s up. Record Store Day 2022 is coming this Saturday, April 23 to Seasick Records, which means exclusive offerings and fun events all day to celebrate. We’re talkin’ beer tasting, free coffee and more—keep reading for the deets.
RSD 2022
In case you’re not familiar with Record Store Day, let’s get acquainted. Record Store Day (RSD) started back in 2008 as a celebration of independent record stores around the world and the community of dedicated staff, customers and artists that make them so special.
Since then, it has grown exponentially with artists big and small releasing exclusive CDs, vinyl and promotional material for the big day. DYK there are Record Store Day participants in every continent except Antarctica? They’re really missing out.
Here in Birmingham, fans have been camping out at Seasick Records for RSD for years, with lines forming as early as the night before.
Check out a full list of this year’s RSD titles here. All RSD titles are first come, first served and limited to 1 copy per person, per title—so get in line early to snag your favorites!
Beer tasting + free coffee
As if the incredible music selection wasn’t convincing enough, local Birmingham favorites will be bringing the party.
Staff will be handing out free coffee from Filter Coffee Parlor for those early birds who need a pre-crate digging pick-me-up.
Plus, starting at noon, Cahaba Brewing Company will hold a beer tasting for the Record Session IPA, their collaboration with Seasick. According to Cahaba, the brew is a low ABV India Pale Ale with a complex melody of flavors with tropical fruit notes and a bitter finish.
Like what you taste? Head to their nearby taproom to grab a six-pack.
Showing the Cahaba some love
Right on time for Earth Day, a suite called Listen to your Mother with special merch, music and even limited edition kombucha will be released on Record Store Day.
Artist Earthen Herman used field recordings of the Cahaba River with synthesizers, bells, flute, and piano to create “CAHAMBIANCE: The Cahaba River in Stereo”. A limited edition cassette will be available at exclusively at Seasick.
Plus, Seasick has teamed up with their next door neighbor, Harvest Roots Ferments, to craft a kombucha inspired by the Cahaba Lily flower. The delicious drink, aptly named Lily, is inspired by the aromatics of the flower, with whole vanilla bean, jasmine and green tea.
Chicago based graphic designer Drew Ryan designed the packaging, merch and bottle labeling for these special edition products—inspired by Earth Day posters from the ’70s.
A portion of the proceeds from each of these products will benefit Cahaba Riverkeeper.
Make your Saturday plans
The shop will be operating on special hours for RSD, open from 8AM-6PM.

If you miss out on the action, any remaining RSD titles will be available on the Seasick website starting Sunday, April 24th at 7AM.
While you’re in the area, locally-loved Puerto Rican eatery, Tropicaleo, is unfortunately closing its doors. Stop by this Saturday from 8AM-6PM for Pork and Jackfruit BBQ, $5 bar drinks and $3 mimosas until they run out. Help them go out with a bang on their last day in business.
