Easter is quickly approaching, so we’re sharing 14 churches with sunrise and outdoor Easter services in Birmingham. Keep reading, then make your plans for Sunday, April 17.

1. Southminster Presbyterian Church

Located in Vestavia Hills, Southminster Presbyterian Church is offering an outdoor Easter service in Birmingham that early birds will love. Their sunrise service will take place at 6AM, and their virtual and in-person worship service will be held at 10:30AM.

2. Covenant Presbyterian Church

Covenant Presbyterian Church typically meets on Sundays at 8AM and 10:30AM, but for Easter, they’re offering a 6:15AM sunrise service with a beautiful view. That’s right, their sunrise service will take place at Vulcan this year!

3. Asbury United Methodist Church

Asbury United Methodist Church will offer multiple traditional and modern worship options for Easter this year, including a 6:30AM sunrise service.

4. Metropolitan Church

Metropolitan Church has multiple forms of worship—their typical Sunday worship as well as LifeGroups for different stages of life on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. This year, they’re also one of the outdoor services for Easter in Birmingham with a 6:30AM sunrise service.

5. Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, located in Vestavia Hills, offers a variety of virtual and in-person meetings to fit your needs. This year, they’ll host a community Easter sunrise service at Mountain Brook High School.

6. Pell City First United Methodist Church

If you’re looking for outdoor Easter services in Birmingham but want to leave downtown or try something new, head to the Chapel in the Pines at Lakeside Park. Pell City First United Methodist offers a 6:30AM sunrise service with a beautiful view of the lake.

7. Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church

Another option for outdoor services for Easter 2022 in Birmingham is Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church. Conveniently located in Shelby County, Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church has multiple options for worship, including two morning services and discipleship classes for children, youth and adults.

8. Trinity United Methodist Church

Trinity United Methodist Church will have two options for sunrise services this year: one at Homewood Central Park led by Element Student Ministry and another led at their West Homewood Campus.

9. Briarwood Presbyterian Church

Briarwood Presbyterian Church, also the home of Briarwood Christian School since 1965, will have a 6:30AM sunrise service option this year for Easter.

10. Canterbury United Methodist Church

At Canterbury United Methodist Church, you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise service. Head to Canterbury’s Scout Hut at 7AM to worship as you watch the sun rise.

11. Westwood Baptist Church

Westwood Baptist Church, a church in Alabaster, will have a 7AM sunrise service in their outside upper atrium. Along with their outdoor service, they’ll have others to attend at 8, 9:15 and 10:30AM.

12. Mosaic Church

Mosaic Church meets at the Battery every Sunday at 10AM, and for Easter this year, they’ll have an outdoor worship option on the patio.

13. Friendship Baptist Church

Another fantastic option for an outdoor Easter service in 2022 is Friendship Baptist Church, led by Reverend Christopher C. Packer.

14. Prince of Peace Catholic Church

Prince of Peace Catholic Church doesn’t have a sunrise service, but they do offer outdoor services for Easter in Birmingham. Weather permitting, they will have an outdoor Mass at 11AM on Easter Sunday on their soccer fields. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on!
