We hope you’re ready for these openings, Birmingham, because we’ve got five of them! Check out which new businesses we’re excited for in 2022, including some that you can check out now, and updates on one closing that will leave barbecue fans heartbroken.
1. JP Morgan Chase | First Birmingham Branch
JP Morgan Chase has officially started building out their first Birmingham branch. Located on 20th St., this new spot was announced by the company in 2019, but was recently approved for Branch Establishment. According to an article from the Birmingham Business Journal, it will feature an open concept area, self-service transaction areas, a digital access bar, smart ATMs and free WiFi. Chase customers will also have access to the Chase Private Client team, financial and home lending advisors and business banking relationship managers.
Birmingham’s high traffic and growth is what appealed to the company and why they chose to put their first Alabama branch in Birmingham. PS—they’re hiring.
2. Mama Suz’s Fried Pies
If you’ve never had a fried pie by Mama Suz, you’re missing out. From sweet to savory flavors, this mother and son duo can bake up some delicious creations—and it’s about to get a lot sweeter. Their storefront is officially opening on Tuesday, February 8 in Pelham and you don’t want to miss it. The itinerary? Breakfast pies from 7AM-12PM, lunch pies from 12PM-4PM and dessert pies all day, of course. Salad options will also be available.
Starting off in their kitchen in 2018 and having built their fabulous reputations and farmer’s markets and local pop ups, Mama Suz has been frying up her pies for Birminghamians for over four years using local fruits and vegetables. Let’s congratulate them on their accomplishment!
3. Gunn Dermatology | Lane Parke
After only a little over a year in business, Dr. Holly Gunn and her team have just announced their expansion to Lane Parke. With more space in their brand new place than in their Crestline location, they can serve more patients through medical, pediatric and aesthetic dermatology.
We’re so excited for new businesses bringing life to Lane Parke—making Mountain Brook Village the place to be. Gunn’s new location will be between the Regions and Starbucks. For now, book an appointment on their website to take advantage of all of the services they offer.
4. Rochelle’s Place
These openings in Birmingham just keep coming. This Center Point based coffee shop is ready to serve up a glass of deliciousness—just look at the photo above! This coffee shop and lounge combo features delicious caffeinated drinks to keep you energized and food to keep you full. They recently posted a picture of their Chicken Tortilla Fiesta Dip, and we’re speechless.
They’re slated to open mid-April, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for their opening and finally snag one of those milkshakes—no sharing allowed.
5. Cool Shots Selfie Museum | Hoover
If you’re ever looking for an indoor activity with friends on a rainy day, look no further than the Hoover Selfie Museum. With a variety of backgrounds, setups and props, they’ll have you taking professional looking pictures to up your Insta game. If you’re looking to film video content, they have just what you need to film your Reels, TikTok videos and more.
They’re open now, so be sure to say ‘cheese’ and check it out. The possibilities are endless. Be sure to stop by their grand opening event on February 9 to celebrate them coming to Hoover.
Closing time—we’re sad to see Golden Rule in Pelham close
Golden Rule in Pelham has officially closed their doors. This update was posted to Facebook regarding both the Pelham and Helena locations.
“With much sadness I have to let everyone know that I have to close the Golden Rule BBQ in Pelham and Helena. We have never been able to recover from all of the various impacts that the last two years have put on the company….I don’t know what God has for me after I complete this painful closing but I do know that He has me and He has you, too.”– Golden Rule BBQ, Facebook
Whether you have been 20 times or had never stepped foot inside, the Helena and Pelham communities are feeling the loss. While we’re sad to see the locations go, we’re excited for what’s to come for the Golden Rule team.
That’s all we’ve got for now, Birmingham! Be sure to turn on post notifications on our Instagram so you never miss a thing.
