Big Machines Day is back for its 10th year at McWane with one mission—to spark a love of science and learning in kids of all ages.

Sponsored by Craneworks, the event features some of the coolest machines around. From dump trucks to fire trucks, kids young and old will have the chance to climb aboard these incredible contraptions and explore all they have to offer. 

From giant buttons and levers to thrilling lights and sirens, there’s one thing this event proves, and that’s bigger is always better!

Engineering Showcase 2022

Think you have what it takes to be an engineer? Then take part in McWane’s Engineering Showcase on February 26.

Held during National Engineering Week, McWane will be hosting unique design challenges all day long in the areas of mechanical, electrical, chemical, computer, metallurgical and biomedical engineering.

But that’s not all! Engineering professionals and companies from throughout the Greater Birmingham Area will be there too to help demonstrate the various types of engineering, incredible engineering innovations and even educational tips on becoming a future engineer.

Beaker Bash 2022—Chef McWane

Get ready to play with your food—Beaker Bash 2022—Chef McWane is here on February 27.

During this fundraising event, guests will have the chance to:

• Play with their food, experiment with it and discover delicious food adventures
• Explore the biology, chemistry and physics related to food
• Meet chefs, try new food experiences and discover that science really is everywhere and in everything they do.

Proceeds from Baker Bash 2022 helps provide hands-on science learning experiences to children throughout the state of Alabama who cannot afford the cost of visiting McWane Science Center without extra support.
