Pop the trunk, grab your friends and pile in the blankets because it’s time to head to the drive-in. At Grand River Drive-In you can see your favorite films on the big screen from the comfort of your own car. So get ready to grab a Coke and popcorn as we give you all the steps on how to drive into this must-try movie-going experience.
1. Pick your movie + get tickets
The first step to driving-in is making the difficult choice of what movie to see. The Grand River Drive-In has so many great options playing every week and for only $8 per ticket for a double feature, it’s an amazing deal!
See what movies are playing each week on their website, and buy your tickets online or at the box office. The box office opens at 5PM and this is where you’ll get your tickets, radio channel information and designated screen number.

2. Find your screen & pick a spot
Once you pick up your tickets at the box office drive-thru, it’s time to pick the perfect spot. You’ll want to get there at least 30 minutes early to get a good space and grab the necessities.
Pro Tip: If you get there even earlier, you’ll have time to check out the mini-golf course, yard games, playground for the kids and dog park if you’re bringing your furry friends.
I love a middle spot personally, and since the lots are huge you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. Lots are marked with numbers that make it easy to find your designated movie.
Movie start times change seasonally, so make sure to confirm your screen’s time on the website to make sure you have plenty of time to set up.
3. Get Set Up
To prepare for your cinematic experience you’ll need the perfect set-up. For those with cars and more than two in your group, remember to bring lawn chairs and blankets to stay warm.
For trucks and larger cars, pull out the pillows and blankets galore to create a cozy, toasty environment to enjoy your double feature.
4. Grab some snacks
No movie experience is complete without popcorn and soda! Grab your favorite drinks, candies and fresh buttered popcorn at the Snack Shack on-site. They also have a great selection of alcoholic beverages for our 21+ crowd.
Hungry for something more than a snack? You can snag hotdogs or burgers from the Snack Shack or get a full meal at Saw’s BBQ or Neighbor’s Brews and Pies only steps away from the drive-in lot.
5. Tune in and enjoy the movies!
When you’re ready to tune in to your double feature, check the piece of paper you got at the ticket booth. It’ll have all the information on what station to turn your radio to, so you can hear the movie from your car.
Lastly, make sure to turn off your headlights, get comfortable and enjoy your drive-in movie experience at Grand River.
