Did you know there’s a shortage of glass vases right now? Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market needs The Magic City’s help and in return is helping Children’s of Alabama.
Birmingham, we need your glass vases
COVID-19 seems to be affecting all aspects of our lives. Glass vases are another thing to add to the list. Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market, a local Birmingham florist shop, can’t get the amount of vases they need to make floral arrangements for the community. Usually ordering 100 cases or more by the truckload from China, the florist is now only able to receive about 10 cases of glass vases for each order.
Now’s the time for Birmingham to help this local business. Dorothy is asking community members to donate clear, glass:
- Bowls
- Cubes
- Cylinders
- Vases
“It’s kind of a win-win in many ways.
Number one, it’s recycling glass that most people don’t even want. It is an effort to sustain our business. We can’t do flower arrangements without vases.”
– Dorothy McDaniel, Owner, Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market
Drop off your unused glass vases to help this business during the busy holiday season.
- Where: 3300 3rd Ave S Birmingham, AL 35222
- When: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM | Saturday 8AM-2PM
Are you not able to go to Dorothy’s? Don’t worry! Someone from the business will even come to your doorstep to pick up your vases.
Birmingham businesses supporting each other
Children’s of Alabama is near and dear to Dorothy’s heart. For every glass vase donated, the florist will donate to this Alabama hospital. Particularly, she is giving the money to the Alabama Children’s Hospital Foundation. The foundation helps cover medical costs for kids, so families can get the help they need.
Birmingham, let’s help this business help Children’s of Alabama.
