Whether they’ve been at Children’s for one month or 18 years, Children’s employees are passionate about what they do each and every day. Why work at Children’s? You could join this group of caring employees who do everything they can to help children live healthy lives.

Plus, everyone who works at Children’s is part of a team. From mentoring programs for new nurses to emotional wellness initiatives, it’s all about making sure each employee has the support they need to do their job—and do it well.

As the Director of Nursing Education, Marjorie McCaskey knows that it’s important to help each nurse as they begin their journeys.

“Nursing is a special career to begin with. You have to have a caring attitude and a caring heart. To apply that to children, it takes a special thing.

Why Children’s? If you want to work with children, there’s no other place in the state to go. We’re the only freestanding Children’s hospital in the state. There are services that Children’s offers that you can’t get anywhere else.”

Marjorie McCaskey, Director of Nursing Education and Professional Development and the Clinical Outcomes and Quality Advisor, Children’s of Alabama

When you spend most of your time at work, it’s important that you feel supported. Working in the midst of a pandemic makes that support even more necessary. At Children’s, you aren’t just one more employee. You’re a necessary team member

Because everyone at Children’s has the same goal of making sure children thrive, they encourage each other in their roles. It’s rewarding to come to work and know that everyone is on your side. Think of the team at Children’s as your cheerleaders and coaches. They’re here to help, because when you win, a patient wins—and that’s the ultimate success.

“You get to spend more time with your patients and families getting to know them and helping them through the journey that they’re on.

Relationships are built at Children’s because the whole hospital is pediatrics. It’s a big family atmosphere. You just can’t beat coming into work and having fun.”

Marjorie McCaskey, Director of Nursing Education and Professional Development and the Clinical Outcomes and Quality Advisor, Children’s of Alabama

The career fair is the perfect opportunity to see what your future could look like coming to Children’s. Whatever questions you have will be answered by nurses who have been in your shoes.

“It’s not just about people getting through the door, we want people to stay. You have an opportunity when you come to the career fair to talk to people from all the units and ask them important questions: What brings you back every day? What’s it like on your unit?

These are nurses who have only been there for a year, so they can relate to these questions.”
