5 direct flights out of Birmingham + fun things to do in each city

After last year, it’s safe to say we are all in need of a vacation. And with new direct flights being added out of Birmingham frequently, we’ve got some tempting options. So, are you packed yet?

We’ve pulled together some of our top recommendations out of BHM. Flying is much more involved these days, so we’re sticking with direct flights to avoid any unnecessary stops or potential delays.

Remember, these reflect current flights, but schedules are always subject to change. Safe travels!

1. Nonstop flights to Baltimore, MD:

The land of crab cakes, The National Aquarium and The Baltimore Orioles, this Mid-Atlantic stop is not to be missed. Southwest has recently announced they will be adding back a direct flight that offers non-stop service to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

If Baltimore isn’t enticing enough, BWI also gives easy access to places like the Eastern Shore, Annapolis and Washington, D.C.

2. Direct flights out of Birmingham to Miami, FL:

Home to never-ending fun and sun, Miami is the perfect getaway. It’s easily accessible from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, with direct flights running regularly on American Airlines.

Our top Miami recs? Hit the picturesque beaches, visit one of the nation’s coolest outdoor street art installations, or embrace Cuban culture in Little Havana. The city is also home to some delicious dining with heavy Latin and Caribbean influences, so come hungry!

3. Nonstop to New York, NY:

Whether you’re a first-timer or a Big Apple regular, these direct flights make getting into the city even easier.

The activity recommendations in New York are simply endless. If it’s your first time visiting, you can’t miss the classic tourist attractions like The Empire State Building, Times Square and The Brooklyn Bridge.

Seasoned visitors might enjoy embracing New York’s unmatched international food scene or a Broadway show.

4. Direct flights out of Birmingham to Orlando, FL:

Head to the happiest place on Earth, and leave the flight connections behind. With multiple airlines offering direct service into Orlando, you’ve got no excuse to miss the Mouse.

If you’re looking for alternate entertainment, Orlando has no shortage. From manatee encounters to ziplining over gator territory, there’s something for everyone.

5. Nonstop service to Denver, CO:

Head West with this direct service to Denver and in about three hours, you’ll be in the land of craft breweries and supreme hiking, with the Rockies as your backdrop.

Don’t miss the Denver Beer Trail or rafting and outdoor adventure galore in nearby Clear Creek. If you’re lucky, you can also catch a show at the city’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
