5 new Birmingham openings + reopenings that you need to know, including John’s City Diner

What a rainy week we have had, Birmingham. We are back at it this cloudy Tuesday with a list of the top five openings that you need to know about and hopefully a couple of rays of sunshine down the road. Keep reading to find your next go-to spot.

1. John’s City Diner

A true Birmingham classic, John’s City Diner has officially reopened their doors for indoor dining Thursday-Saturday. Located on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd with the classic “It’s Nice to Have you in Birmingham” mural, this historic restaurant has provided the city with classic yet upscale cuisine while keeping its past Southern charm. 2. Daughters Baking

Something pretty sweet is headed to Mountain Brook Village. Daughters Baking, a boutique cake business known for their naked cakes, has found its new home in a Mountain Brook storefront after outgrowing their West Homewood space. Having the capacity for walk-in orders, custom orders and wedding cakes, Daughters Baking is sure to become a Mountain Brook staple. Their grand opening will be on July 29, and we are beyond ready.

3. Kemp’s Kitchen- Gardendale

Northern Birmingham, this one’s for you. Have you been having FOMO over the Kemp’s’ locations in Downtown and Trussville? Great news: Kemp’s Kitchen is headed to Gardendale! After their downtown launch only 2 months ago, Kemp’s is thrilled to announce that their new location will open in August 2021. It will feature the same menu as previous locations with favorites such as their famous chicken and waffles and their meat and veggie plate.

4. The Electric

While many details surrounding The Electric still remain a mystery, it is no mystery that it will definitely be worth the wait! Coming from the same ownership of local favorites such as Paramount and El Barrio, we know this Bluff Park establishment, located right across from the new Piggly Wiggly location, will be top tier. 5. Birmingham Martial Arts- Liberty Park

Anyone looking to improve flexibility, balance and strength? I know I am! Join Birmingham Martial Arts as they expand to their new location in Liberty Park. With classes for adults and kiddos alike, get to be a part of something positive and gives you great mental and physical health benefits.
