According to the article, the decision was “almost too difficult.” So instead of focusing on old or new ice cream shops, they focused on “what feels essential.”

Big Spoon Creamery is a small batch, artisan ice cream company founded by Geri-Martha O’Hara and Ryan O’Hara—both with extensive chef backgrounds in the country, including Birmingham.
The company’s main goal is to create a menu that focuses on seasonal flavors using local ingredients, as well as to bring a new innovative approach to ice cream classics.
Some of their most inventive flavors include:
- Buttermilk Corn Cookie
- Goat Cheese Strawberry Hibiscus
- Lemon Verbena Blackberry
Getting its start in 2014 via an old-school ice cream trike, the business has now grown to include two storefronts.
