1. Hack-It Classic

Whether your golf game is amateur or pro, play your way during the Rotaract Club’s 12th annual Hack-It Classic.

Registration includes:

  • 3 hours of competition

All proceeds from the event benefit Rotary International’s COVID-19 and vaccine-related charitable efforts.

2. Bohemian Serenade Concert with Alabama Symphony Orchestra

This spring, Alabama Symphony Orchestra is hosting Spring Serenades, for free. Friday-Sunday, April 9-18, watch and listen to the Bohemian Serenade Concert with Conductor Carlos Izcaray.

3. Funky Fish Fry

Did you know April is Autism Awareness month? In support of children and adults affected by autism in Birmingham, the Junior Boards of the Autism Society and Mitchell’s Place are hosting their annual Funky Fish Fry. Expect food, drinks and music. 

Safety precautions: all patrons are required to wear a mask upon entering and when moving throughout the venue.Social distancing rules and regulations must be followed at all times.

6. End Heroin Bham 16.6 Challenge benefiting Addiction Prevention Coalition

Stat: According to the CDC, 16.6 is the current rate of death by overdose in the state of Alabama. 

To reduce this number and the stigma surrounding Substance Use Disorder, Addiction Prevention Coalition is hosting the virtual End Heroin Bham 16.6 Challenge.

Join the challenge by committing yourself to 16.6 miles, reps, minutes, laps, etc. of running, walking, swimming, meditation or anything you’d like to do to bring awareness to Substance Use Disorder and Overdose in Alabama.

7. Honda Indy Grand Prix

Prepare for the fast and furious. This April 16-18, race to Barber Motorsports for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst. This signature event on the INDYCAR circuit features a 2.38-mile road course with 17 turns and 80 feet of elevation.

8. Annual Mutt Strut: Dog-Friendly 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Grab your pup and join Hand in Paw for the 11th annual Mutt Strutt: Dog-Friendly 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. This year’s event will be virtual, so run or walk at your leisure at any location you choose.

Unsure where to get your move on? Hand in Paw is providing several dog-friendly race routes across Birmingham and even curating music playlists to make your virtual race experience a total blast!

13. Red Shoe Run 2021: Rockin’ 5K

Lace up your favorite sneakers and hit the pavement for the Red Shoe Run 2021: 5K. This beloved fundraiser benefits the guest families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities.

This year’s run will feature a socially-distanced start line for the in-person 5K and 1 mile fun run as well as a virtual option where you can raise funds and awareness wherever you are. Masks will be required for all participants.

This year’s 15th annual event will be both virtual and in-person.
