Beach bums rejoice! Starting December 15, Alabama residents will be able to fly from Muscle Shoals’ Northwest Alabama Regional Airport to Pensacola, Florida.

The airport is located a little over an hour and a half from Birmingham, so you’re still cutting out more than two and a half hours of drive time, which makes this a perfect option for a quick weekend trip.

The best part? Flights on this route start at just $59.

Confession: I’m a Birmingham transplant. I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, so I was pumped to see this news. While we’re here, I thought I would share a few of my don’t-miss spots on Pensacola Beach:

  • Fort Pickens | Not only can you tour the old military fort (which is super interesting), you can also find some of the best beach access in town.
  • Flounder’s | Two words: seafood. nachos. Oh, and can’t forget the key lime pie.
  • Fosko Coffee Barre | If you head into town while you’re there, don’t miss this gem. Pro tip: the Honey Latte is made with local honey—and it’s amazing.
