Let’s face it. Some of us probably don’t even remember what an office looks like now that we’re working remotely. Those of us who can work from the comfort of our home are definitely privileged and lucky, but sometimes it’s nice to see co-workers—even if it is behind a mask. For some extra camaradarie, check out these spots around town to meet up with your team.

1. Harbert Center

Did you know that you can host COVID-safe events at The Harbert Center? Built in the 1980s, this building houses a meeting facility and event space. Whether you’re looking to host a corporate luncheon or just have a casual get-together with your team, The Harbert Center is equipped to host any type of event.

This October, we took a look inside and explored the many spaces that the building offers. To learn more, check out our latest.

2. Dread River Distilling Co.

Cheers! Who knew that you could have an event or meeting at a distillery? The Bham Now team had our Christmas party here and let’s just say that Dread River made it a blast. From the regal decor to their awesome cocktails, they sure know how to host.

From reunions, networking and more, Dread River tailors each event to suit the needs of your party to make for the perfect space to see your colleagues after lots of time away from the office. They have three private and semi-private lounge rooms as well as one large private event room.

3. Forge

To the Bham Now team, Forge seems like a second home and it served as our awesome office until COVID. Forge is located on the 2nd floor of The Pizitz building, making it a great central location in the heart of Birmingham. They offer four different conference rooms that are beautifully designed to host your next get together.

My personal pick? The rooftop conference room—DUH! You’re right next to the rooftop pool and get a great view of the Birmingham skyline.

4. Cahaba Brewing Company

Yep. You can host an event, meeting or party at a brewery. Cahaba Brewing Company offers three different space options:

  • The Taproom is the large public space that utilizes the main bar. Your group can reserve a number of tables while still enjoying the fun of the public space.
  • The Patio is a semi-private space that also utilizes the bar.
  • The Barrel Room is a private space that’s the most flexible for decorating and layout.
  • Location: 4500 5th Ave S Building C, Birmingham, AL 35222

5. Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Birmingham Botanical Gardens definitely offers a picturesque backdrop to any event you plan. You’ll find several options to choose from here including indoor and outdoor settings.

Bonus: if you’re a member of the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens because you can save on space rentals for your next event. Even if you’re not looking for something formal, grab some blankets and enjoy a picnic in the grass for some laid-back quality time.

6. Birmingham Museum of Art

Art comes in many forms, including planning a beautiful event. The BMA offers elegant, grand spaces for your events—whether you’re looking for an intimate brunch, quick lunch meeting or intricate dinner party.

With six different event space options, your guest list no matter how big or small can be accommodated. The spacious cafe overlooking the sculpture garden caught my eye. I don’t know about you, but a beautiful space makes team-building even better.

7. Red Cat Coffee House

One of Birmingham’s coziest coffee shops can also be your own private event space. The atmosphere at a coffee shop especially Red Cat just can’t be beat in my opinion.

You can rent out the space in Pepper Place for parties, receptions, reunions and more. It’s a gathering space that’s beautiful without all the unnecessary formality. It’s a great place to kick back, catch up and can host up to 93 people.
