Get Festive this Fall with 5 local pumpkin patches

Is there anything more “fall” than a pumpkin patch? Photo via Matthew Niblett for Bham Now

Is there any more iconic autumn activity than taking a weekend trip out to a local pumpkin patch, taking a hay ride and coming back with the perfect pumpkin? No, I didn’t think so.

Last week, fellow Bham Now’er Matthew Niblett and I joined our friend Eden Gosney of Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham on a quick mid-week trip to the Great Pumpkin Patch out in Hayden, Alabama. We loved it so much, we knew we had to put together a guide to several pumpkin patches near Birmingham.

For our trip out to Hayden to visit The Great Pumpkin Patch, our friends over at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham hooked us up with a new 2020 GLB250. This compact SUV had room for the three of us, our camera gear—and, of course, plenty of room for the 20 pumpkins we ended up bringing back.

If you’re settling in for an hour-long drive to a pumpkin patch, you’ll want comfort—and the 2020 GLB provides just that with ultra-comfy seats. Plus, with the GLB’s all-wheel-drive, we didn’t have to worry about taking the vehicle off-road into the pumpkin patch.

Oh, and my favorite part? With built-in voice commands, we could adjust the temperature just by saying, “Hey Mercedes, please turn on the air conditioning.” In fact, the 2020 GLB250 has an all-new starting price point for Mercedes-Benz. And with an optional third row, it has room for everyone to load up on pumpkins at your favorite pumpkin patch!
