After conducting a visit to Five Points West in their food truck on Wednesday, Sept. 30th, popular Atlanta-based vegan restaurant Slutty Vegan is eyeing multiple spots in Birmingham for a new location.

Serving up Vegan-Friendly Options Since 2018

Slutty Vegan is the brainchild of Aisha “Pinky” Cole, a Jamaican-American entrepreneur from Baltimore. After becoming a vegan, she searched for ways to satisfy her cravings for junk food—but she found that vegan-friendly options were scarce.

So, in 2018 Cole opened her own vegan restaurant, Slutty Vegan, in Atlanta. She intended the name to be a provocative hook, showing that vegans can still enjoy junk food—as long as the ingredients are vegan-friendly!

Slutty Vegan was an instant hit in Atlanta. With two brick & mortar locations in Atlanta (and a third on the way) and supplemented by two food trucks, Slutty Vegan is a dominant force in the Atlanta vegan food scene.

Slutty Vegan Visits Birmingham—and Plans to Stay

On Wednesday, September 30th, a Slutty Vegan food truck made a trek to Birmingham’s Five Points West neighborhood. Just like Atlanta, Slutty Vegan was met with long lines of eager customers here in Birmingham.

“We think it’s safe to say Birmingham, Alabama, has THEE longest Slutty Vegan tour line we’ve EVER seen!”

On an interview with WVTM 13 News, Pinky Cole mentioned that her trip to The Magic City was also a chance for Slutty Vegan to identify possible spots for a future brick & mortar location in Birmingham.

“We’ve looked at a total of 8 locations already, so we’re just identifying which one would serve us best. The goal is to be in Birmingham, Alabama within the next six months. We’re excited to have a brick & mortar here and do the same thing that we did in Atlanta.”

If all goes well, Slutty Vegan could join the ranks of vegan-friendly restaurants in The Magic City!

As you might guess, Slutty Vegan’s menu has a variety of plant-based sandwiches. Most are made with Impossible Foods—which you might recognize from Burger King’s Impossible Whopper, which made headlines in 2019. Here are a few Slutty Vegan options that I can’t wait to try:

  • One Night Stand — Plant-based patty loaded with vegan bacon, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun.
  • Heaux Boy — Vegan shrimp tossed in a New Orleans style batter, loaded with lettuce, tomato, pickle, vegan cheese, and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun.
  • Ménage à Trois — Plant-based patty loaded with vegan bacon, vegan shrimp, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun.

You can check out all the options on Slutty Vegan’s online menu.
