The Fourth of July is just days away, and while many cities around the greater Birmingham area have canceled their fireworks shows due to COVID, others are shouting “on with the show!” So grab a mask, secure the ultimate viewing spot and prepare to be wowed.

Thunder on the Mountain—Vulcan Park and Museum

For years, Vulcan Park and Museum has celebrated the Fourth of July with its must-see fireworks show—Thunder on the Mountain. And goodie for us, this year is no different. 

On Saturday, July 4 at 9PM, fireworks will illuminate the Birmingham skyline with a variety of colors and patterns that dance along to choreographed music like popular and inspirational songs as well as patriotic favorites.

Wondering where to watch the show? As long as you have a clear view of Vulcan, you are golden. Top spots include:

  • Five Points South
  • UAB Campus
  • Homewood
  • Vestavia
  • Mountain Brook

Trussville Freedom Celebration

The Trussville Freedom Celebration will be back again this year with some new COVID-19 guidelines in place.

  • Jefferson County’s mask ordinance will be observed.
  • There will be no children’s play area.

Beginning at 6:30PM, food vendors will be open for business. You won’t want to miss food trucks like:

  • Wasabi Juans
  • Southland BBQ
  • Cheezin-Grilled Cheeses
  • Rita’s Lemonade
  • Bendy’s Cookies and Cream
  • And more!

Live music will be onstage from The Kempers (7PM) and The Negotiators (8PM).

The event wraps up at 9PM with fireworks. Expect a great show!

Regions Field

You may have heard that baseball is back at Regions Field for the Birmingham Barons’ Summer Series. But we’ll be getting more than baseball—we’ll also be getting post-game fireworks during the Fourth of July Weekend. Here are the dates and times:

  • Thursday, July 2
  • Friday, July 3

The best part—games are free to attend, so the fireworks shows are, too!
