Future Global Leader
There’s a new project in the works for UAB, and it could have a major impact on Birmingham. The $75 million project includes the building of a genomic medicine and research center and will help UAB continue its establishment as a global leader in medical research. Mixed-Use Development Eyes Downtown
Another historic building in downtown Birmingham will soon see renovations. The 114-year-old building, which most recently housed Etheridge Brother & Sister Barber & Beauty Shop, will become a mixed-use development.
Owned by Victor Wiggins, president of the Wiggins Building Corporation, a general contractor based out of Vestavia, has plans to update the building with retail and office space, four loft-style apartments + more. More details.

Sidewalk Film partners with local law firm with grant in mind
Through a shared goal of amplifying Black voices in film, Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema and the Law Firm of Stacey A. Davis have partnered to create the Black Lens Filmmaker Grant.
The grant recipient will be awarded: $1,000 cash prize funded by The Law Firm of Stacey A. Davis1-year director’s membership to the Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema ($2,500 value + 1 free year of education/outreach programs)The deadline for applications is August 1. Apply now.
