If you’ve been looking for a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of ways to play outside and a welcoming, inviting vibe, you need to check out Hillsboro in Helena.
We went down there on a sunny September day and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. Keep reading for photos and details.
Here’s a little glimpse of Hillsboro
1—Hillsboro’s a great neighborhood for families
We chatted with one mom who was out at the pool swimming with her daughter. They moved to Helena for Hillsboro because they loved the community feel.
We heard from someone else that Hillsboro’s only traffic jams come from hundreds of kids out riding their bikes in the afternoons. How fun is that? There’s one main road to get in and out, so it lends itself easily to that kind of get-to-know-your-neighbors feel.
It’s close to Helena’s award-winning schools
For a lot of young families, close proximity to the area’s award-winning public schools is a big bonus. Plus, it’s not that far from some nice private school options, as well.
There’s a pool, a swim club and a playground
With the amount of heat we have here in Alabama for so many months of the year, having a nice-sized community pool a stone’s throw from your house is sweet.
Right behind the pool is the playground, which is a great place to slide or swing.
And, there’s a clubhouse—perfect for your friend’s baby shower, your kid’s birthday party or another celebration.
2—You can enjoy the outdoors at Hillsboro
There’s something awfully nice about living in a master-planned community that’s full of all the things that make getting out and about easy.
There are miles of paved and wooded trails
At Hillsboro, you and your family can find plenty of ways to enjoy being outside, and getting from place to place is easy breezy on the paved and wooded trails.
It’s close to the Cahaba River, too, and Cahaba River Park, with plenty of opportunities for swimming, kayaking or visiting Cahaba lilies.
Front porches and outdoor living spaces offer natural places to hang with friends and family
We saw so many porches with swings and rocking chairs just inviting you to sit down a rest a while. Plus, each home has its own outdoor living room, which is built for entertaining.
3—Hillsboro has an inviting, welcoming feel, and it’s close to downtown Helena
As we walked the streets of Hillsboro, we couldn’t help noticing all the little details that made this place feel like home. The lovely hydrangeas in this yard. The Alabama flag hanging in that one (sorry, Auburn fans). The Helena Huskies sign in another yard. It feels cozy and welcoming.
And, it’s so close to the cute little downtown of Helena, with Buck Creek, restaurants, shops and even a brewery. In case you’re wondering, Helena’s about half an hour from downtown Birmingham.
Sidewalks and streetlights add to the safe community feel at Hillsboro
These are the types of details that show a lot of thought went into creating a wonderful living experience for residents of Hillsboro and their guests. Hello, morning walks. Goodbye, worring about walking home from a neighbor’s house after the game in the dark.
If Hillsboro sounds like the place for you, there’s a model home you can see at 529 Rosebury Rd Helena, AL 35080 between 11AM-5PM Monday-Saturday and 1-5PM Sundays. Visit Hillsboro online or call 205.663.7889 to schedule a tour.
