When you have a baby, it seems like you blink and they’ve outgrown their first car seat–and car seats aren’t cheap. The good news is you can trade in your used car seat at any Birmingham Target store for 20 percent off a new one September 3-13, 2019! Get the details below.

How it works

During Target’s semi-annual car seat trade in event–starting today and running until September 13–take your used car seat to your closest Target’s Guest Services counter. Target accepts and recycles all kinds of car seats–infant seats, convertible seats, booster car seats, etc. It doesn’t matter if it’s damaged or expired–they’ll take it!

What you get

Once you trade in your old car seat, Target will give you a 20 percent off coupon valid through September 14, 2019. You can use it on another car seat, stroller, or other select baby gear.

What happens to the car seat?

Instead of sitting in a landfill, your car seat will be converted into another item like a grocery cart or plastic bucket by Target’s partner, Waste Management. Target has recycled 500,000 car seats since introducing the program in 2016–that’s pretty cool.
