Comedy troupe featured on HBO, Asperger’s Are Us, coming to Birmingham August 23
Reading time: 2 minutes
Asperger’s Are Us, a sketch comedy troupe, is coming to Birmingham Friday, August 23. They’ll be bringing the laughs to the Birmingham Improv Theater, with proceeds benefiting Children’s of Alabama! Learn more about the show below and get tickets here.
The group
Asperger’s Are Us is the first comedy troupe in the U.S. comprised solely of people diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s important to know that the group does not poke fun at Asperger’s or mention it during their sketches. They’re just a group of guys who do absurdist comedy (think Monty Python), and they’ve been touring across the country and abroad since 2010. You might have seen them on their HBO docu-series, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The event
The Asperger’s Are Us Sketch Comedy event is the finale for Birmingham Improv Theatre’s Summer of Caring. Proceeds of the event will go to Children’s of Alabama, so in addition to watching talented comedians perform, you’ll also be supporting a great cause.
