Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint
The moment Jack Brown’s opened its doors in Birmingham in 2014, locals have gone gah-gah over its burgers. One look at the menu and you’ll understand why.
At this burger and beer joint, you’ll find some of the typical favorites alongside some truly unique twists to the classic burger.
For the most mouth-watering, unique and downright messy, consider these:
Elvis
Description: 100% all natural wagyu beef topped with peanut butter, mayo, applewood smoked bacon and American-cheddar cheese

Greg Brady
Description: 100% all natural wagyu beef topped with house-made mac n’ cheese, American-cheddar cheese and Martin’s BBQ potato chips
Price: $7.99
Pair your pick with a side of fries—I suggest the sweet potato fries. Delish!—and a craft or seasonal beer or bomber.

Carlile’s Barbecue
Carlile’s may be known for its amazing barbecue, but burgers are also one of their specialties. In fact, Carlile’s participated in the annual Birmingham Burger Fest in 2018 and 2019.
Their burger was so incredible, they totally wooed the judges and were awarded the trophy for best burger in 2018.

Going to The Pizitz is always exciting with the hustle and bustle of locals grabbing food and shopping. I suggest making your visit even more worthwhile with a stop at The Standard.
The cheeseburger is always a good choice, but if you want to kick up the party in your mouth a notch, then consider the Doublestack.
Description: white cheese, special sauce, French fries, coleslaw and pickles on a potato roll.

You also have the choice to go meatless with The Standard’s Veggie Burger.

Mudtown Eat & Drink is the perfect spot to grab a burger in a casual, laid back atmosphere. There burgers are totally scrumptious, too. Here are two that will get your appetite rolling.
The American Animal
Description: fried egg, bacon, American cheese, fries and special animal sauce

Feeling spicy? The Cahaba Cajun will light a fire in your mouth.
Description: blackened patty with fried pickles, pepper jack cheese, sweet and spicy mustard and spicy cajun po-boy sauce.

Seasoned fries are my personal fave, so be sure to order them on the side of that bodacious burger.

When it comes to burgers, some of the best can be found in small dives that you may overlook. One place like this in Birmingham that you should check out is Chris Z’s.
Sporting UAB’s mascot Blaze across one wall, UAB students should definitely swing by.
Burgers range from a more than reasonable $4.30-$6.95 and you can choose a side item of fries, chips or slaw.

Chez Fonfon
Think Chez Fonfon is too fancy to serve a hamburger? No way! You better believe there is one on the menu.

It’s hard not to be charmed by Fancy’s On Fifth with its fun atmosphere and killer menu. The photos of their food on their Instagram page no doubt make you want to crawl through your phone screen for a bite, too.
