There were are so many cool things about South Walton, Florida that I decided to surprise you with an extra reason to visit. So here is number six: coastal dune lakes.
What are those? Coastal dune lakes sit just on the other side of the dunes. After large rain storms, the dunes open up straight into the Gulf. What results is a shallow basin about 5 ft. deep. Not only is it a neat and rare phenomenon, but it’s also a great spot to paddle board.
What’s especially cool about these dunes is that South Walton is one of the only areas in the world that has them. Major cool point for South Walton!
