On April 13, you’re invited to experience Easter fun at Asbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham for their annual children’s event—Biscuits and Bunnies. Here are four reasons to attend this delicious, sweet and free event.
1. Delicious Homemade Biscuits
Homemade biscuits? Don’t mind if I do! Hey, you have to have some energy to hunt for all of those Easter eggs!
Kicking off Biscuits and Bunnies, Asbury will host a biscuit-inspired breakfast at 9AM in the gym for all who’d like to attend. Choose from three biscuit options—chicken, sausage and butter. Also on the menu are coffee and tea, plus yummy toppings like syrup and jam.
Who’s behind the meal? Asbury’s in-house chef Bill Marcie. Along with delicious homemade biscuits, Marcie also creates scratch-made favorites for the whole family which are served up every Wednesday night from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
2. Colorful Eggs Galore
After a yummy breakfast, it’s time to head to Asbury’s soccer fields for an egg-cellent egg hunt at 9:45AM.
During the hunt, kids of all ages (hey, even you parents can join in the fun!) will have the chance to hunt for hundreds of colorful eggs. Those who find a dozen eggs can exchange them for a stuffed bunny.
If your child loves stuffed animals as much as mine does, this is definitely a great swap! So celebrate with a fun ride on a trackless train around Asbury’s beautiful campus.
Be sure to stop by the photo booth for fun Spring photos with family and friends.
3. Special Accommodations for Special Needs
At Asbury United Methodist Church, everyone is welcome, which is why its fellowship strives to go the extra special mile to ensure all are given equal opportunities. Through their Shepherd’s Ministry, children with special needs are given the same opportunity to worship God and to learn about the love and joy of Jesus.
During Biscuits and Bunnies, there will be a volunteer booth designed for children with special needs. At the booth, kids can partake in sensory activities when in need of a quiet and calm atmosphere.
Last year, there was an enormous tub of colored sprinkles to run your hands through. Colorful and truly relaxing! Tasty, too, but I don’t recommend eating them.
4. Fellowship
Are you seeking fellowship and community? You’ll find it at Asbury United Methodist Church. Whether on Easter Sunday, during their Biscuits and Bunnies event or any other time throughout the year, all are welcome to worship and experience the love of Jesus Christ.
Celebrate Eastertide
Biscuits and Bunnies may be a one-day event, but the Easter celebration continues at Asbury United Methodist Church during Eastertide. Eastertide (Easter Season, Easter Time) is one of the most joyous and celebrated seasons of the Christian year.
From Sunday, April 14, to Sunday, April 21 (Easter Sunday), Asbury United Methodist Church is inviting you to join them for Holy Week—a time of reflection and preparation for Jesus’ resurrection.
During this week-long celebration, join Asbury for these services:
- Sunday, April 14: Palm Sunday (8:30AM and 11AM)
- Thursday, April 18: Come and Go Communion (5PM through 8PM)
