Stop what you’re doing, and scratch all of your plans for Friday, February 22 off your calendar. It’s National Margarita Day!!! This is not a drill. Here at Bham Now, we take this day pretty seriously, and we are prepared to celebrate it all week if we have to. So, If you’re on the rocks about joining in all of the fun—see what we did there?—take this as your sign to go all out. Here’s your guide to celebrating National Margarita Day 2019 in Birmingham:

Pepper Place

In the mood to socialize and roam free—marg in hand? Then, invite all of your friends to go to the Pepper Place entertainment district grand opening this Friday, February 22 from 4:30-11PM. Cantina Tortilla Grill, located in the heart of Pepper Place, will have Hornitos Margarita specials, beer and food specials, music and more. Also, other drink specials include margarita flavored beer at Hop City, mango bellinis at Red Cat, $8 gauchos at OvenBird and a twist on a blue margarita called “The Heisenmarg” at the Lumbar.

Babalu

Located in the Lakeview district, Babalu is a Birmingham favorite. They apparently are just excited about this national day as we are because they are making it a week-long event! National Margarita Week at Babalu means Margarita Monday prices Monday-Sunday, February 18-24. All flavors of Luna-Ritas are $5, and Baba-Ritas are $9.

Rojo

Looking for more of a casual outing or a place to bring a group? Then you’ll want to try Rojo in Highland Park. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and cozy. Plus, they’ll have $1 off all margs from 11AM-11:59PM on Friday. No worries about picky eaters if you’re with a big group—their menu is unlike anything else so there is something for everyone.

Chuy’s

Chuy’s at the Summit is going all out for National Margarita Day. They’ll have $1 off top-shelf Skinny Ritas all day, happy hour from 4-7 PM, a free fully-loaded Nacho Car and so much more. According to their event page, you can even post a photo at Chuy’s on National Margarita Day with #ChuysRitaDay and win free Tex-Mex for two. Because who can say no to free food?

Cantina Laredo

Located at Uptown Birmingham, this place needs to be on your must-try list. This Friday, February 22, they are having $5 Casa Ritas all. day. long. The festivities start at 11AM an end at 10PM, so you have plenty of time to make it out and enjoy a drink or two!

Cocina Superior

Cocina Superior in Colonial Brookwood Village is a top contender for the special day. Cocina serves modern Tex Mex and their menu includes five specialty margaritas. It’s a bit on the fancier side, so you might want to make reservations beforehand. They are open 11AM-11PM on Friday, and happy hour is served between 2:30-6:30 PM daily.

Taco Mama

With five locations around Birmingham, there surely is no shortage of Taco Mamas and we are so thankful. The best thing about Taco Mama is the reliability. You know what you’re getting, you trust it and they never disappoint. This is especially true with their margs. So swing by and try one—or two—of their eight different flavors.

Little Donkey

With five speciality margs like their “Tequila Mockingbird” and some of the freshest Mexican food around, Little Donkey is killing it. Both locations, in Homewood and Hoover, are open from 11AM-10:30PM on Friday, and there will be $5 margs ALL DAY!

El Barrio

Located downtown on 2nd Avenue North, El Barrio is consistently packed full of people, and for a good reason. The food is actually delicious—not just “I’m writing a restaurant and drink guide article” delicious. And you’ll be needing some good food to pair with all the margs. No word on specials yet, but keep your ears open and eyes on their insta for updates!

Pilcrow

Strictly going out for drinks? Head to one of Birmingham’s newest hidden gems. The Pilcrow Cocktail Cellar is located off Morris Avenue on First Avenue North, and easy to miss if you’ve never been before. The bar gives off major speakeasy vibes with a twist. They serve a full craft cocktail menu—including four signature margaritas— specializing in agave spirits.
