A bowling alley, an adventure ropes course and over 800 luxurious, electric leather recliner seats, along with an arcade and pizza pub… These are things we in Greater Birmingham do not expect in a movie theater. Now, that’s changing. Pell City Premiere Lux Cine, Bowl & Pizza Pub opened to the public on January 17, 2019. Take a look inside.

New Vocab Word: “Cinertainment”

Gary Moore, owner and CEO of Texas-based Premiere Cinema Corp., told Bham Now he expects the new Premiere Cinertainment luxury movie theater to draw patrons from miles beyond Pell City, including from Birmingham.

“This is the cinema I want to go to when I see a movie. It’s got the latest in modern technology, but retains a nostalgic Hollywood feel.  It’s spacious, but designed to be cozy and inviting at the same time. We offer features even the most discriminating adults will enjoy but is completely kid-friendly as well. I think it has something for everyone of all ages.”

Pell City Premiere Lux Cine boasts seven wall-to-wall screens. The Pizza Pub serves gourmet pizza, wings, hamburgers and other local favorites, including local craft beer on draft. Over at the concession stand, moviegoers can snack on Dippin’ Dots ice cream, complimentary refills of popcorn, Artic Blast frozen beverages and self-serve soft drinks with a touch screen menu.

Mark Vaughan, facility director, says that after the bowling alley and ropes course, his favorite feature of the Premiere Lux theater is the discreet pair of blue buttons on each seat.

The first button controls the electric recliner function of the seat which is amazing in itself. But the second button adjusts the electric headrest for you. It doesn’t matter where you’re sitting in the theatre, you customize the viewing angle to your own taste and comfort. You will definitely be spoiled!”

Bham’s Growing Luxury Movie Theater Scene

Premiere Cinemas is also bringing another luxury movie theater to the Birmingham area. Located off Lakeshore Parkway across from John Carroll Catholic High School, that theater is expected to open later in 2019. While that location will not include a ropes course or bowling alley, it will have a pizza pub with local craft beers on tap, an arcade, electronic leather reclining seats and many other luxury amenities.

Birmingham’s only other luxury movie theater is AMC Dine-In Vestavia Hills 10, featuring a MacGuffins bar, which reopened as a luxury movie theater in August 2018.
