United Way of Central Alabama seeks to fill 6 positions supporting seniors, veterans and more

This month, United Way of Central Alabama is seeking to fill six positions to meet the growing demand for services. Two of the positions work with veterans, a third position is with the Meals on Wheels program and the fourth position is for the Senior Health Insurance Counseling program as a coordinator. The fifth and sixth positions are two new coordinator positions that work with the Area Agency on Aging for Jefferson County.

Aging and Disability Resource Center – Coordinator

Coordination of the Aging and Disability Resource Center ( ADRC), a single point of entry for older adults and people with disabilities who need information and assistance with community resources and access to publicly funded, community based long term care programs. Provides supervision and support to the ADRC staff in order to fulfill the ADRC mission.

Area Agency on Aging of Jefferson County – Nutrition Coordinator

Coordination of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Jefferson County’s Nutrition Program. Involves planning, program development, implementation and operations of senior centers throughout Jefferson County. Supervises congregate and homebound reporting requirements. Follows guidance and direction from Alabama Department of Senior Services.

Senior Health Insurance Counseling, Area Agency on Aging of Jefferson County – Program Coordinator

Coordinates the provision of health insurance counseling for seniors age 60+. Works directly counseling clients with Medicare related issues, educating the community through workshops, scheduling Open Enrollment events.

Community Initiatives – Program Manager

Provides programmatic and administrative management to effectively provide Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing services to qualifying Veteran families. Works closely with program activities to ensure effective and efficient operations and maintains a professional and cooperative working relationship within the agency and the community. Assists with establishing and maintaining quality and productivity controls based on database review/analysis, staff technical assistance, and staffing performance standards for the SSVF program.

Community Initiatives – Lead Case Manager

Provide supervision to case managers to ensure veterans and veteran families achieve housing stability. The position also provides accountability, administrative and supervisory oversight for Case Managers at the assigned site. Maintain quality and productivity controls and maintain staff/site performance benchmark goals.

Community Initiatives – Meals on Wheels

The Case Manager is primarily responsible for assessing eligibility of homebound seniors 60 years or older in Jefferson County for participation in for the Meals on Wheels program.
