If you’re anything like me, you’ve only got one thing on the calendar for this Saturday, and it’s watching the Iron Bowl. It feels like we’ve been waiting an eternity, but after long last, the biggest rivalry game in college football is HERE!  *Cue Hallelujah chorus*

If you’re (still) anything like me, you know that making it to that big game can be tough. But fear not, Birmingham! There are tons of super cool, sports-friendly spots of around town to campout for the afternoon and watch the Tide and the Tigers. Just remember, all these fun spots are BYOS–bring your own shaker.

Iron City does NOT mess around when it comes to gameday fun, and the Iron Bowl at Iron City event is no exception. The Grill at Iron City has a 9 flatscreen TV’s on the wall that make one huge screen(!) for your viewing pleasure, and the main venue features it’s 240 ft. HD projector screen and the same speakers they use to power their concerts. You want loud? They’ve got it. This family friendly event will feature a “build your own” food bar, complete with nachos, baked potatoes, salads and more. There will also be featured cocktails from Tito’s, Kracken, Southern Comfort and Jose Cuervo throughout the whole game!

Rogue Tavern

Rogue Tavern is a local favorite spot to cheer on the Tide and the Tigers, especially on The Iron Bowl. When you factor in their show-stopping brunch, it is naturally the place to be for a delicious pre-kickoff meal. Rogue Tavern serves brunch from 11am-3pm, with classic brunch menu items like chicken n’ waffles, creme brûlée french toast and build-your-own omelettes. And what’s the best accompaniment of a tasty brunch? $5 Bloody Mary’s AND $8 mimosa pitchers, and $6 Jameson Breakfast pancake shots. In my opinion, any day that starts with a pitcher of mimosas is a good day.

Sleek has a full menu of tempting bar snacks several TVs in the bar alway tuned into games. the bar is finishing up a super sleek (see what I did there?) patio, complete with comfy patio chairs, a full outdoor bar and a hookah bar. There’s never a day of the week when I don’t want to stop by Paramount for a beer and a game of ski ball, but Iron Bowl Saturday is a great day to do just that. Haftime of the big game? How about passing the time with a quick game of pinball? There never has to be a dull moment in Paramount. Gameday specials include $7 daily cocktail, $3-5 pints and $5-8 beer pitchers. There’s no downside to this making this ‘bar arcade’ your gameday destination this season.
