Attention Birmingham high school students! It’s time to collect your ACT scores and high school transcripts and head to The Birmingham College Scholarship and Career Fair at Boutwell Auditorium on Thurs., Nov. 1.

Scholarships

The Birmingham College Scholarship and Career Fair is an initiative of the Alabama College and Career Access Program (ACCAP). Since 2011, the ACCAP has served nearly 10,000 high school seniors across Central Alabama. And guess what—more than $25 million in scholarships were offered to participants last year.

This year is no different. More than 1500 high school students are expected to attend the event and more than $25 million in college scholarship offers will be provided to first-generation college students.

Application Fees Waived

While a college fair is merely informational, a college scholarship fair makes students aware of multiple scholarship offers that await them if they choose to enroll at a particular university. In fact, scholarships are even offered on the day of the event!

There are other reasons this event is so worthwhile, too. Attending college can open up a world of opportunities, but the cost to even apply is impossible for many.

While most college fairs charge for booth rental space to college and universities, The Birmingham College Scholarship and Career Fair eliminates these fees in order to allow colleges and universities to waive application fees for low to moderate income students.

Free Transportation

Yep, you read that right! High School students who attend the event are provided free transportation.

To ensure students have access to the event, The Birmingham College Scholarship and Career Fair partners and participants provide free transportation during school hours.
