Birmingham firefighter Lt. Greg Price broke one leg and two ankles while fighting the fire in Lakeview early last Thursday morning. Cahaba Brewing Company is holding a fundraiser tonight, Oct. 1, for Price and his family.
The Details
- What: Fundraiser for Lt. Greg Price, an injured Birmingham firefighter
- When: Monday evening, Oct. 1
- Where: Cahaba Brewing Company, 205-578-2616, 4500 5th Avenue South, Building C, Birmingham, Alabama 35222
- Participants: Fryer Truck food truck, Southern Vintage Fire Apparatus Association and Magic City Truck Academy, as well as the fire truck on which Price serves.
Eric Meyer, brewmaster and managing partner at Cahaba Brewing Company, is a full-time firefighter himself. He serves as a lieutenant at Mountain Brook Fire Department. That’s a big part of the reason why the brewery is drawn to do something to help Price.
“For me, anything we can do to support a fellow firefighter is great, especially one in downtown Birmingham where the brewery is. (Price) was doing what each firefighter does every day and got hurt. If there’s anything we can do to support him and his family for the time it takes for his recovery, that’s why we’re here.”

Cahaba Brewing Company will make a donation, Meyer said. They will also “pass the boot” so that people can donate directly to Price and his family. Additionally, Fryer Truck food truck will donate 10 percent of proceeds from the event.
Cahaba Brewing Company made the announcement of Facebook this afternoon.
“Tonight we are hosting a fundraiser for Lt. Greg Price, who was injured while bravely fighting the Lakeview blaze last Thursday. We invite you to come out & #DrinkForACause in an effort to help Lt. Price & his family in this difficult time. @fryertruckfoods will be out on the patio & they’re donating 10% of their sales, so come hungry!”
