Birmingham embraces the filming of ‘Live’ starring Aaron Eckhart 

Despite a few streets being blocked downtown and traffic detours, Birmingham is embracing the filming of the action movie ‘Live’ starring Aaron Eckhart.

Social media has been buzzing with Eckhart sightings, and just yesterday he took some time out of his busy schedule to meet with Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama.

Also, this morning several folks posted the following car rollover scene downtown.

Earlier in the week, much of the filming was being done downtown along Birmingham’s historic Morris Avenue.

One of Bham Now’s reader’s provided us with some photos of the scene which looks like Birmingham’s own Pepper Place Market transported to Morris Avenue.

One other interesting tidbit.  For this scene about 100 extras were on hand according our reader.

So what is the movie about?

A number of folks are interested in the movie’s plot.

Here is how Variety describes the storyline  for “Live.”

“….takes place over the course of two hours and follows a disgraced cop who is put in charge of finding the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter, Penny, who’s trapped somewhere in the city and running out of time. With a deranged killer on his heels, Penny’s only hope is teaming up with an ambitious young online reporter who films the wild chase live.”

Eckhart, who played Harvey Dent in Batman’s  “The Dark Knight” will be joined by Ben McKenzie  who portrays the Batman franchise character, Commissioner Gordon on Fox Network’s Gotham.
