Do you love science and want to work hands-on with exciting experiments? Then sign up for one of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Mad Scientist events.

Mad Scientist Day Junior

Hosted by the Birmingham Chapter of Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society, kids will have the chance to participate in over 30 interactive demonstrations and experiments – develop stretchy, oh-so gooey slime, conduct cool lab experiments and learn basic principles of science while having beakers full of fun.

Each experiment station will have instructions as well as explanations on how it works.

All attendees must:

Be accompanied by an adult (21+) at all times
Both adults and kids must wear lab attire, which consists of:
Shirts with sleeves (t-shirts okay, no tank tops)
Closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops)
Full-length pants
Goggles (provided by SAAS)

Mad Scientist Day – High School

Are you a high schooler who wants to discover what it’s like to be a science major at the college level? Then attend UAB’s Mad Scientist Day High School event! The event will consist of five rotations where you can work alongside students of different science majors at UAB. At each station, you’ll have the chance to conduct a hands-on experiment related to that subject.

All attendees must wear lab attire, which consists of:

Shirts with sleeves (t-shirts okay, no tank tops)
Closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops)
Full-length pants
Goggles (provided by SAACS)

Time: 9am-2:30pm
Cost: Free (lunch will be provided)
